How Unae came about
Unae first saw print as a series of articles in Australian Realms Magazine back in the early to mid nineties, shortly after the company changed hands, and was born from that transaction.
As the original owner of that publishing company, part of the condition of sale was for myself to continue contributing. At the time, no longer connected to the general material of the magazine, I proposed to the new editorial team that I pursue that obligation as a project editor, and undertake the creation of a series of articles detailing a new fantasy world. This is how the world of Unae began.
Many different artists and writers were involved in fleshing out the world based on core briefs I prepared. With each issue we would investigate a new nation, culture or city. Quickly, this emerging tough and gritty world gained a following.
Anyone interested in sourcing old Australian Realms issues may be able to find them through the Perth retailer, Tactics. |
